FAQs

1. I’d like to book a session. How does this work?

First of all thank you for choosing PhoDOGraphy by Edith Levy to photograph your precious fur baby. You can contact me here and let me know you’re interested in booking a session or you can call me at 416-568-7163.
Once I hear from you I will email you a client questionnaire with a few questions about yourself and your pet; the types of pictures you want, etc. We will then book a consultation meeting to discuss specific shots you’re looking for and so that your pet and I can get to know one another.

50% of the session fee is due at the time of booking with the balance due at the end of our session.

2. I really want to take pictures of my dog outside but I’m worried about him being off leash. Will the pictures look ok with a leash on?

My first priority is the safety of your pet. If you don’t normally leave your dog off leash then we won’t. Once you pick your final images I will remove the leash from the images during post processing.

3. Where will the photo session be held?

That’s one of the things that we’ll discuss during our consultation meeting. I have a list of locations that I’ve shot at which include parks, urban locations and beaches. Of course if there’s a place you and your pet love to roam and play we can go there.

4. Will you travel?

The quick answer is Yes. If you’re located outside of the Greater Toronto Area there may be an additional fee for travel. Let me know where you are.

5. Why are there no prints or products included in your session fees?

Please understand that while the time spent photographing your pet will be anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours there are many hours involved with each and every client. The session fees includes our consultation meeting, my time spent preparing for the shoot and the time that it takes to process the images after our session. I will spend hours in the digital darkroom enhancing your images and preparing them for you to view. Once you select the images you wish to purchase more work goes into those files preparing them to be sent to the printers.

6. What if I have another pet or want people in my photograph?

No problem. add $25 for each additional fur baby. PhoDOGraphy by Edith Levy is primarily a Lifestyle Pet Photography business so the session is all about your fur baby but I certainly don’t mind including a few shots of the owners with their pets.

7. When will I be able to see my pictures?

Your images will be ready to view 1 to 2 weeks after your session. They will be uploaded to a protected client gallery on my site so that you can see them when they’re ready. The images will be on the site for 2 weeks.  I will also contact you to set up an in-person viewing to discuss product options.

8. What if the weather is bad on the day of my shoot?

It would be great to have year round sunshine and warm weather but we do live in Canada after all. You’d be surprised how beautiful images look in a light misty rain or snowfall. Having said that if it’s a light rain or snowfall the session will go on as planned. If the weather man is calling for heavy rain or stormy weather then we will reschedule the shoot.

9. Do I need to bring anything for my pet to the shoot?

If your pet has a favorite toy they like to play with bring it along. You should also have the usual stuff such as water, poop bags, treats, etc. I always have treats and poop bags with me in case you forget.

10. My dog hates being photographed. How is this going to work?

It would be so easy if pets just sat still and smiled for the camera but of course that’s never the case. I love getting down and dirty when I photograph and you’ll often find me running, kneeling, lying on the ground, getting into weird positions…whatever it takes to get the best shots. If your dog is very, very active it’s helpful to take them for a good walk/run before our session so they can release some of that energy before hand.

11. What if I can’t make my scheduled session?

Life happens I understand but because sessions are booked in advance (and held for you) we will have to find a time that’s mutually convenient to reschedule. 48 hour notice is required to rebook a session. If you must cancel your session the 50% deposit fee will not be refunded.
